Czech Center New York prepared this year as well its traditional EUNIC event - the European Literature Night. The event was hosted by the Ukrainian Institute of America and participating countries thus expressed their support for Ukraine. This year's edition introduced European 11 authors through readings and discussions. The main panel “Peace and Literature" was moderated by Andrew Singer from Trafika Europe, Europe’s literary radio station. Ambassador Silvio Gonzato, Deputy Head of the European Union Delegation to the United Nations gave the opening remarks.

The aim of the Literature Night is to increase public interest in contemporary European literature and its currents of thought and creativity. It also points out the importance of multilingualism and the importance of translations from large and small languages.
The project has been organized by the Czech Centers since 2006. Many European and non-European cities also take part in the Literature Night. The project has been gradually growing and becoming a cultural event with an international dimension.
In 2022, the European Literature Night was part of the cultural projects organised on the occassion of the Czech EU Presidency and took place in 15 countries on 4 continents.
