Event Production, Communications, and Cultural Management in Practice

Are you interested in culture, communications, and working in an international environment? Would you like to learn how cultural events abroad are developed, from the initial idea and planning to promotion and final production? Are you interested in gaining practical experience at a Czech cultural institution in New York City?

How the Internship Works

The internship is not limited to a single narrowly defined role. The Center’s programming changes throughout the year according to current projects and the cultural season.

Czech Center New York offers three primary internship tracks. Interns have a main area of focus but also contribute to a variety of activities across the organization, from research and communications to the practical coordination of cultural events.

We operate as a small team in which different areas of work naturally overlap. Collaboration, independence, and flexibility are therefore essential.

Internships generally take place Monday through Thursday from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, for approximately 24 hours per week. Interns are also expected to assist with evening events, which are an important part of the Center’s programming. The total weekly commitment does not exceed 40 hours.

Several interns typically work at the Center during each internship period, collaborating on a range of projects and assignments.

Internship Funding

This is an unpaid internship. It is best suited to students who are eligible for financial support through the Erasmus+ program.

New York City has one of the highest costs of living in the world, so applicants should carefully consider their financial resources before applying.

Czech Center New York does not cover airfare, housing, insurance, meals, or visa-related expenses. Interns receive a monthly public transportation stipend of $50.
