Unveiling: From Stage to Supper for Havel’s 90th Birthday

Explore our photo gallery from an evening of theater, conversation, and goulash marking what would have been Václav Havel’s 90th birthday.

On October 5, Bohemian National Hall hosted a new English-language production of Havel’s Unveiling, directed by Edward Einhorn in Jan Novak’s translation. Craig Anderson, Bob Brader, and Yvonne Roen brought to life the darkly comic encounter between Ferdinand Vaněk and two friends eager to convince him of their perfect life.

After the performance, a discussion of Havel’s theatrical legacy gave way to a birthday celebration with goulash prepared according to his recipe, published in Kančí na daňčím. The evening remembered Havel as both a playwright and a host who enjoyed good food and company.
