A Midsummer Night's Dream is a 1959 Czechoslovak animated puppet film directed by Jiří Trnka, and it is based on Wiliam Shakespeare's play of the same name. Three different worlds meet in the story: aristocratic circles of three Athens couples, everyman’s world of craftsmen obsessed with theater, and the blissful fairy-tale realm of supernatural creatures, including elves and nymphs. The film is considered the most remarkable Jiří Trnka's work and a milestone in the history of the world animation.
