On September 17, we opened Visit Czechoslovakia! The Stories of Czech and Slovak Travel Posters at the Czech Center Gallery. Guests explored original posters from the collection of Nicholas D. Lowry, filled with vivid invitations to visit cities, mountains, spas, and historic landmarks.
Made to inspire travel, the posters also tell a wider story. Their changing styles and destinations offer glimpses of everyday aspirations and the political history of twentieth-century Czechoslovakia. The opening also celebrated the launch of the accompanying publication, presented by Michal Gregorini and guests.
