Chamber concert of Filharmonie Brno, organized by the Dvořák American Heritage Association (DAHA) as part of the Bohemian Benevolent and Literary Association (BBLA), in collaboration with the Czech Center New York and the Consulate General of the Czech Republic in New York, was a great success, with the audience completely filling the Ballroom of the Bohemian National Hall. The opening remarks were given by Michael Beckerman, professor of music at NYU and an expert on Czech music. The concert was part of Filharmonie Brno's US tour 2023.
The program consisted of chamber works of Leoš Janáček, Bohuslav Martinů, Jan Novák and Antonín Dvořák. Highlight of the evening were pieces performed by the chief-conductor and artistic director of Filharmonie Brno, Dennis Russel Davies, who performed the works of Philip Glass and Laurie Anderson togehter with Maki Namekawa on piano.
