The famous Carnegie Hall will feature a number of Czech musicians and orchestras in the first half of 2023. In February, Filharmonie Brno with Dennies R. Davies will perform Philip Glass' work. A choir Cancioneta Praga will perform in the Stern Auditorium in February, and later also the Czech National Symphony Orchestra accompanying the violinist Robert McDuffie. The last remarkable performance will be the concert of Czech jazz singer Jan Smigmator in April 2023.
Filharmonie Brno will perform in Carnegie Hall on February 8, 2023. For more than four decades, Dennis Russell Davies has championed and presented the first performances of the Philip Glass’ symphonies and operas. Now, with Filharmonie Brno, Davies conducts the New York premiere of Glass’ Symphony No. 12, featuring vocalist Angélique Kidjo. Also on the program are works by two Czech masters: Taras Bulba, a showpiece of Brno’s famed musical citizen, Leoš Janáček, and the delightful scherzo, Thunderbolt-P47, by Bohuslav Martinů.
The Dvořák American Heritage Association (DAHA) as part of the Bohemian Benevolent and Literary Association (BBLA), in collaboration with Czech Center New York and the Consulate General of the Czech Republic in New York, will also present Filharmonie Brno chamber concert in Bohemian National Hall on February 7, 2023, which will be part of Filharmonie Brno Philharmonic US tour 2023.

Dennis Russell Davies’ activities as opera and orchestral conductor, and as pianist and chamber musician, are characterized by an extensive repertory stretching from Baroque to the latest music of our time.
Widely considered to be one of the most innovative and adventurous conductors and programmers in the classical music world, Davies has successfully challenged and inspired audiences on both sides of the Atlantic as well as in Japan. He is well-known for exciting, well-structured concerts and for his close working relationships with such varied composers as Luciano Berio, William Bolcom, John Cage, Philip Glass, Heinz Winbeck, Aaron Copland, Lou Harrison, Laurie Anderson, Arvo Pärt, Hans Werner Henze, Kurt Schwertsik, Thomas Larcher, Balduin Sulzer, and Manfred Trojahn.
Dennis Russell Davies has been Artistic Director and Principal Conductor of the Filharmonie Brno since 2018, and at the same time Principal Conductor of the MDR Symphony Orchestra since 2020.
In the 22/23 season he is invited to conduct concerts with the Filharmonie Brno in Salzburg, Linz and Bratislava, and will go with the orchestra on international tours to Great Britain and Korea. He returns as a guest to the Bochumer Symphoniker, the Frankfurt Museum Orchestra, the Kyoto Symphony Orchestra and the Orquesta de València.

The Czech National Symphony Orchestra
The Czech National Symphony Orchestrawill perform in Carnegie Hall on February 16, 2023. Renowned violin virtuoso Robert McDuffie is set to tour the eastern United States with the Czech National Symphony Orchestra and acclaimed conductor Steven Mercurio next February, performing Johannes Brahms’ Violin Concerto in D minor, Op. 77. Highlighted by a performance at New York’s Carnegie Hall on February 16 produced by Artist Management Partners, the tour also includes stops at George Mason University, the New Jersey Performing Arts Center in Newark and more. Cancioneta Praga
Cancioneta Praga is a choir, which was founded in 2010 by choirmaster Lukáš Jindřich. Members of the choir stem from various renowned choirs from Prague (Bambini di Praga, Radost Praha and others). The repertoire of Cancioneta Praga includes not only old-time compositions but also music of the 20th century, as well as carols from around the world and the Czech Republic, a selection of Czech folk songs and folk songs from around the world and film music.

Jan Smigmator is a Czech jazz singer, a student of Marilyn Maye with American jazz legends, a longtime members of Tony Bennett Quartetan and an embodiment of the connection between the music of the 21st century and swing kings like Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr., Dean Martin, Bobby Darin, Mel Tormé, or the still-fantastic Tony Bennett! His voice, style, phrasing and love of music rank him among the leading contemporary jazz and swing performers in Europe. On April 29, 2023, he will be singing The Great American Songbook at the beautiful Zankel Hall in Carnegie Hall.
