"Requiem 2021" is a multimedia project dedicated to the memory of the victims of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. The program will be projected on the walls of the Grand Ballroom in the Bohemian National Hall to the sound of the Requiem "Oratio Spei" by the renowned contemporary composer Juraj Filas.
There will be two shows of "Requiem 2021" in Bohemian National Hall: Thursday 9/9 and Friday 9/10.

"Requiem 2021” is a digital art show directed by Anna Eva Kotyza and set to the score of Requiem “Oratio Spei” (Prayer of Hope) by the noted contemporary Slovak composer Juraj Filas, a work dedicated to victims of terrorism everywhere. Commemorating the 20th Anniversary of 9/11 and the victims who passed on the day of, and afterwards, “Requiem 2021” will be an immersive show projected on the walls of the Bohemian National Hall.

"This digital show commemorating 9/11 also sheds a light on the thousands who have suffered in the years since. To this day, first responders, construction workers, policemen, and bystanders are succumbing to cancer and other diseases; a direct result of the toxic fumes and debris. Growing up a stone's throw away from the World Trade Center, I remember friends and neighbors getting their lung cancer diagnosis, still others who were struggling to return to normalcy after the horrors they had seen. As a virtual reality (VR) and business graduate from NYU, it is an honor for me to use my skillset for a greater purpose: to have their stories heard. Our long-term vision is to have the whole requiem be performed all around the world, with the visuals projected onto cathedrals and concert halls."
Anna Eva Kotyza is a young American director of Czech and Slovak heritage focusing on film and VR. She is the winner of the 2020 ARTGRID x ARTLIST Editing Challenge - Ad Cateogry. Anna Kotyza concentrated on Film and Business in NYU’s Gallatin School of Individualized Study, contributing to opening NYU’s 1st VR Museum, “Château d'Art Futur.” She graduated from Interlochen Arts Academy, majoring in Motion Picture Arts, where she received the prestigious award "Young Artist" award in her class. She continuously explores themes of love, identity, and home. She feels the need to investigate new immersive storytelling mechanisms to understand and re-experience the past, present, and future in her work. Her goal is to bring the same approach to "Requiem 2021."

An accompanying VR exhibition will feature virtual reality works by visual artist Markéta Gebrian, America’s Got Talent semi-finalist Alex Dowis, and VR Director Anna Eva Kotyza.
The show runs for 40 minutes with no intermission. Suggested age: 13+.
Audience members should arrive 15 minutes before showtime. Shows begin promptly at the start time. There is no late admittance.
Proof of vaccination required to enter. Masks must be worn while inside the Bohemian National Hall.

The program will feature the recording of Juraj Filas's Requiem from Prague's Rudolfinum in 2013 with singers from the Metropolitan Opera in New York, thanks to the efforts of the Harmony Foundation. Ana María Martínez - soprano, Matthew Plenk - tenor, Filip Bandžak - baritone, Kühn Mixed Choir, Prague Symphony Orchestra - FOK conducted by Kent Tritle.
