As part of this year’s Open House New York Weekend, the annual festival that opens doors to hundreds of sites across the city, we are hosting a special opening of our exhibition Station for Paused Forecasting. The gallery and cinema at the Bohemian National Hall will be open to the public, showcasing the latest works by seventeen emerging artists from UMPRUM. Conceived as a fictional station for predicting fate, the exhibition explores themes of environmental sustainability, technological futures, and the fragile landscapes of a generation stepping into a world shaped by overlapping crises.
Bohemian National Hall, built in 1896 in a Renaissance Revival style by architect William C. Frohne, is one of the few remaining social halls from New York’s immigrant communities. For more than a century, it has served as a center of Czech culture—offering a place for gatherings, education, and cultural events. Since 2001, it has been owned by the Czech Republic and houses both the Consulate General and the Czech Cultural Center in New York.
