Meet three present and former Czech Public Radio foreign correspondents! The event will follow the opening of 100 Years of the Czech Radio exhibition and will take place on the rooftop terrace of the Bohemian National Hall. You can chat with Pavel Novák, current correspondent of Czech Radio in Washington, and Klára Stejskalová, former Czech Radio’s foreign correspondent in Berlin. The evening will be moderated by Miroslav Konvalina, the director of Czech Center New York, who also used to report from Washington, D. C. in the past. The meet-up will feature Peter S. Green, a former foreign correspondent for the International Herald Tribune in Prague.

Correspondent for Czech Radio in Washington
My contact with Czech Radio began when I was 10. I became a member of the Children´s Dramatic Ensemble of Czechoslovak Radio in 1982. I worked for this state/ public radio since the spring of 1989 as a reporter for the youth station E+M. After my studies at the Faculty of Law of Charles University in Prague, I had a short part of my carrier as a younger legal practitioner in one barrister´s office.
My professional life connected with Czech Radio started 25 years ago. I entered the foreign news desk as a junior reporter in 1998. I was sent to Poland as a correspondent in 2000 where I spent 4 years. Another 4 years spent already with my family as a radio correspondent for the EU in Brussels. I served as a chief of the foreign desk department for 1,5 years and then as a senior reporter I covered Spanish-speaking countries, France and francophone Africa, and Balkan countries. Nowadays, I am a new US correspondent.
Klára Stejskalová
Klára Stejskalová joined Czech Radio shortly after graduating from the Philosophical Faculty of Charles University in 1993. She picked up her first work experience in the international service, where she spent approximately a year, before joining the foreign affairs department of Czech Radio’s flagship news channel Radiožurnál.
In the years that followed Klara travelled extensively covering summits and elections and reported from The Vatican when the world mourned the departure of Pope John Paul II. She specialized in news coverage from Turkey, Italy and German-speaking countries. For six years she headed the foreign department of Radiožurnál where she lead a team of close to 30 reporters.
In the years 2010-2014, she was in Berlin as Czech Radio’s foreign correspondent. Since 2016, she has been serving as director of Radio Prague International, the external service of Czech Radio.
