Kafka’s inner world comes to life through music. Composer Jiří Trtík performs selections from his opera Kafka’s Letter to His Father and other recent works, with singer and producer Never Sol (Sára Vondrášková) also appearing on the program. Piano, voice, and electronics draw listeners into an evening of intimate melodies, dreamlike atmospheres, and unexpected sounds.
TICKETSHow do you find your own voice under the weight of someone else’s expectations? Trtík’s Kafka’s Letter to His Fatherexplores this question through Kafka’s difficult relationship with his father. Drawing on the writer’s deeply personal letter, the opera follows a childhood marked by fear, the pressure to conform, and the freedom Kafka finds in writing.
The opera premiered at Prague’s National Theatre in 2024. Its U.S. premiere is scheduled for November 12–14, 2026, at CAP UCLA in Los Angeles.
For this concert, Trtík will perform selections from the opera in arrangements for piano and synthesizers, alongside music from his recent work. His compositions bring the warmth of acoustic instruments into contact with electronics and experimental sound.
The evening also features Never Sol, whose expressive vocals and layered synthesizers move between fragile melodies and powerful waves of sound. Together, the two artists’ musical worlds offer an immersive evening where contemporary classical music meets electronic experimentation.
