How to Become a Composer in 60 Minutes

Czech Center New York presents an educative concert and workshop for children in collaboration with Klára Boudalová. The program is part of the Year of Czech Music 2024.

Fun chamber music concert for kids with DIY instrument building and audience participation. Ever seen a real composer? Not only will you meet one, but you can actually become one! First, get inspired by some cool pieces written by famous Czech composers Bedřich Smetana, Leoš Janáček and Antonín Dvořák. Compose your own piece of music with your friends and the help of a real composer. Listen to and record your brand new piece with the help of our musicians. Plus! You get to perform with us on stage playing your own DIY musical instrument - and you can keep it to take back to school!

  • 60 minutes full of live music and interactive musical experience

  • All kids create an upcycled DIY instrument to play and to keep

  • Music by Czech composers Bedřich Smetana, Leoš Janáček and Antonín Dvořák (to commemorate the Year of Czech Music 2024)
