Eliška Weissová graduated from the Brno Conservatory and the Prague Academy of Music under René Tuček. She attended masterclasses of Nadězda Kniplová and Peter Dvorský. She won prizes at several singing competitions, including first prize at the Antonín Dvořák International Singing Competition in Karlovy Vary (2004) and third prize at the Mikuláš Schneider-Trnavský Singing Competition in Slovakia (2006), was a semi-finalist at the Competizione del´opera in Dresden and a finalist at the Boris Christoff Competition in Sofia.
Since 2006 she has been a regular guest of the National Theatre Prague, National Theatre Brno, Theatre Plzeň, Theatre Ústí nad Labem, Opava, State Theatre Košice and Slovak National Theatre Bratislava.
Internationally, Eliška Weissová performed at the opera festival in Wexford, Ireland as Martinka (Smetana: The Kiss), at the Opéra de Rennes, Opéra-Théâtre de Limoges and Grand-Théâtre de Reims as Kostelnička (Jenůfa), at the Opéra de Rennes also as Rossweisse (Die Walküre) and Ulrica, at the Slovak National Theatre as The Foreign Princess and the Witch (Rusalka), at the Erfurt Theatre as Azucena and Amneris and with the Bayreuth Festival as Rossweisse (Walküre) in Abu Dhabi.
In October 2019, Eliška Weissová appeared as Amneris in a new production of Aida at the historic Hatshepsut Temple complex in Luxor (Egypt) under the baton of Oksana Lyniv. In September 2022, she made her debut as Isolde (Tristan and Isolde) at the North Bohemian Theatre Ústí nad Labem. In March 2022, she gave her house debut at the Welsh National Opera as Kostelnička (Jenůfa) under the baton of Tomáš Hanus and will return as Milada in Dalibor (B. Smetana) in the 2026/27 season. In October 2023, she made her debut as Tosca and in March 2024 as Lady Macbeth (Macbeth) at the National Theatre Košice. In October 2022, she gave her house debut at the Wiener Staatsoper as Kostelnička (Jenůfa) under the baton of Tomáš Hanus, and in April 2024, she returned as Foreign Princess in Rusalka (A. Dvořák) under the baton of Tomáš Hanus. In Januar 2024, she gave her house debut as Kostelnička (Jenůfa) at the Staatsoper Hamburg.

Pianist David Kalhous has gained recognition and critical acclaim in the United States, Europe and Asia for his wide-ranging repertoire and adventurous programming spanning more than three centuries. He has appeared as a soloist with Prague Symphony Orchestra FOK, Prague Philharmonia, Israel Symphony Orchestra, Moravian Philharmonic, and Chamber Philharmonia Pardubice. As a recitalist and a chamber musician, he performed at the Prague Spring Festival, Gilmore Keyboard Festival, Czech Philharmonic Chamber Music Series, and Czech Radio’s Live Rising Stars Series. In New York City, he appears at Bargemusic, Symphony Center, Spectrum and Czech Center NYC; in Chicago, at PianoForte Foundation and Constellation.
David Kalhous regularly performs, lectures, and teaches masterclasses at leading universities and conservatories around the world.His interest in new music has resulted in collaboration with many composers who have dedicated works to him. He has performed with Fonema Consort in Chicago and Konvergence Ensemble in Prague.
David Kalhous has appeared on Czech Radio and Television, on WFMT Chicago, and has written, produced, and hosted programs devoted to piano music for Prague’s Classic FM Radio. His recordings can be heard on the Neos (music by Ladislav Kubik), ArcoDiva (sonatas by Beethoven, Janáček and Liszt) and Czech Radio/EBU (twelve Scarlatti sonatas). As a chamber musician, he has recently performed Beethoven’s complete works for piano and violin with Benjamin Sung and toured extensively with violinist Ivan Ženatý.
David Kalhous formal studies began at Prague Conservatory with Jaroslav Čermák. He subsequently attended Hochschule für Musik in Vienna, Rubin Academy of Music at Tel-Aviv University, and Yale University, and studied with Paul Badura Skoda, Emil Leichner, Victor Derevianko, David Northington, and Peter Frankl. He also worked with Jerome Lowenthal at the Music Academy of the West and with Paul Lewis at the Gilmore Festival. He holds a doctorate from Northwestern University, where he studied with Ursula Oppens.
David Kalhous is Professor of Piano at Florida State University College of Music, and Artistic Director of the Prague Piano Festival.He lives with his family in New York City.
