When Monsters Dream presents the work of artists connected to the Prague-based post-underground collective Střešovická Kramle, whose practice moves between visual art, music, and performance. Curated by Tereza Špinková, the exhibition features works by Václav Girsa, Tomáš Hrůza, Tom Kotík, Ladislav Kouba, Michal Mariášek, Jan Ságl, and Daniel Vlček. Closely connected to the collective’s New York debut at Bohemian National Hall, the exhibition offers an insight into Střešovická Kramle’s visual language. Works across painting, sound, installation, photography, and video move beyond fixed media categories, creating an unstable and immersive environment somewhere between a concert, an installation, and a narrative space. Recurring motifs across the artists’ visual and musical practices include dystopian imagery, environmental anxiety, hybrid figures, and tensions between body, sound, and image. Václav Girsa’s paintings form one of the exhibition’s central threads, bringing together everyday forms with subconscious and mythic elements. Daniel Vlček explores resilient ecosystems through his work with algae, Ladislav Kouba presents paintings of animal forms, Michal Mariášek subverts the rules of video games, Tomáš Hrůza examines nomadic ways of being through photography and video, and Tom Kotík’s installation focuses on the relationship between sound and object. Following the exhibition opening, the evening will continue with a live performance by Střešovická Kramle. The program will open with Simon Deschamps & Club Ecology and conclude with a DJ set by African American Sound Recordings.
