Renowned American curator Allison Glenn is making her first trip to Prague at the invitation of the Czech Center New York. Her goal is to get to know the Czech art scene and build new international connections.
The Czech Center New York is pleased to welcome Allison Glenn, a leading American curator and writer, on her first professional visit to Prague. This curatorial journey is part of our ongoing effort to foster international cultural exchange and highlight developments in contemporary Czech art.
Glenn’s work focuses on connecting visual art with public space, and she has organized a number of outstanding exhibitions, projects, and commissions within biennials and prestigious institutions. Her best-known exhibition, Promise, Witness, Remembrance at the Speed Art Museum in Louisville, honored the memory of Breonna Taylor through works by more than twenty contemporary artists.
In Prague, Glenn is meeting with artists, curators, and institutions to gain insight into current trends in Czech art. She is particularly interested in discovering new talents for The Shepherd residency program and identifying projects suitable for the Toronto Biennial of Art 2026, where she serves as lead curator.
Over her fifteen-year career, Glenn has worked with major institutions including Public Art Fund in New York, Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, and Prospect New Orleans biennial, most recently co-curating Counterpublic 2023 triennial. She has collaborated with many leading artists and regularly publishes in journals such as Artforum, Brooklyn Rail, and Hyperallergic.
This visit is part of a broader Czech Centers initiative to promote Czech art in an international context. Curatorial residencies play a key role in building new collaborations and strengthening cultural exchange.
