This past Thursday the Czech Center New York opened "Drawn from the Unseen" a new exhibition by Petra (Gupta) Valentova. Thank you to everyone who joined us for this exciting event!
The exhibition showcases the work of New York-based, Czech-born multimedia artist Petra (Gupta) Valentova, along with guest artist František Matoušek (Francis de Nim). Through their innovative use of textile, sculpture, installations, and embroidery, the exhibition explores themes of identity, culture, and memory.
The event was also a warm introduction to our new Czech Center New York director, Tereza Porybná, and we look forward to the exciting initiatives she will bring to our community!
Valentova’s pieces, particularly her groundbreaking work with the traditional technique of modrotisk, reimagine Czech craftsmanship through a contemporary lens, merging historical significance with fresh artistic expression. We’re excited to see how this exhibition opens new conversations around cultural heritage and modern creativity.
If you missed the opening, Drawn from the Unseen will continue to be on display at the Czech Center New York until October 31st. Don’t miss this chance to experience these thought-provoking works firsthand!
