Czech swing singer Jan Smigmator dazzled the audience of the Czech Center New York on Monday with his passionate renditions of jazz standards. His concert kicked off the annual film program Echoes of Ji.Hlava, showcasing acclaimed films from last year's Ji.Hlava International Documentary Film Festival.
Jan Smigmator presented his live album from last year's performance at Carnegie Hall during his concert.
He was joined by excellent New York bassist Neal Miner, young Czech pianist Mikuláš Pokorný, and world-renowned trumpeter Jumaane Smith from Seattle. The wonderful New York singer and actress with Slovak roots, Luba Mason, also performed. Beautiful songs were performed in Czech, English, and Slovak.
