Evening Dedicated to Milan Kundera

The evening dedicated to Milan Kundera, renowned Czech and French author, in the Czech Center New York presented a documentay about this novelist. First, the audience could enjoy the screening of a documentary made in 2021 by Miloslav Šmídmajer, "Milan Kundera: From the Joke to Insignificance", followed by a discussion with Prof. Michelle Woods moderated by Prof. Cynthia Allen.

Czech born writer Milan Kundera, who died this year in Paris, was one of the most famous sons of the South Moravian regional capital Brno. Best known for his novels weaving intricate tales of love, politics, and exile, Kundera has been celebrated throughout his career for his unique narrative style, philosophical depth, and keen insights into the human condition.

And it is only natural that following his demise, the Czech Center New York wished to pay tribute to Milan Kundera in an evening dedicated to this brilliant Czech and French novelist.
