Annual Gala Reception: Living in Truth, celebrating the legacy of Václav Havel and organized by the Bohemian Benevolent and Literary Association & Vaclav Havel Library Foundation (now Václav Havel Center), hosted Lesley Stahl and the 2023 recipient of the Unparalleled Service to the Czech and Slovak Communities Award, Charlotta Kotik, Egyptian blogger Alaa Abd El-Fattah, who received the 2023 Disturbing the Peace Award, and a very special Guest of Honor, Salman Rushdie, who was awarded the first ever Lifetime Achievement Award, which was designed by Czech renowned designer Eva Eisler. Musical selections were performed by cimbalom player Matěj Číp.
