We’re pleased to announce that the Czech Center New York director Miroslav Konvalina has become the EUNIC (European National Institutes for Culture) New York president for 2022. He will be part of the presidential ‘‘troika“ together with Dorian Branea, the director of the Romanian Cultural Institute New York and Jaanika Peerna, Cultural Affairs Coordinator at the Consulate General of Estonia in New York.
The presidency team looks forward to working closely with all EUNIC New York members throughout 2022 in order to develop a visible program which will show a strong European cultural presence in the United States. You can look forward to many exciting projects, such as ECO Solidarity.
This EUNIC Global-funded initiative allows designers to join forces and act in solidarity on issues relating to sustainability, ecology, and circular economy in response to climate emergencies and humanitarian and public health crises through design with empathy and sustainable production processes and materials.
In his inaugural speech, the new EUNIC NY president Miroslav Konvalina said:
“I would be thrilled to see us successfully continue projects that are already underway, such as UNMUTE and Eco-Solidarity, while also returning to projects such as Blue Note, Language Day, and Panorama Europe. In the autumn of 2022, I will be offering another European Literature Night on behalf of the Czech Center.
I believe that it’s going to be a good year and that together we will achieve great success. Thank you once again for your vote of confidence and thank you to my colleagues Dorian and Jaanika for helping me out.”
