Sweet Blend of Storytelling and Facts: Bruno the Beekeeper Has Been Published in the USA

What’s the buzz about honey? Find out in Bruno’s honey primer. Brought out by a local publishing house, an extraordinary children's book Bruno the Beekeeper: A Honey Primer by Czech author Aneta Františka Holasová is now available for little American readers.

The author is one of the most talented and popular illustrators working in the Czech Republic today. Her debut from 2013, Bruno the Beekeeper stands out because it was both written and illustrated by her, complete with its uniquely charming and folksy look. The book quickly became popular with children and adults alike, leading to the author’s nomination for Zlatá stuha (Golden Ribbon) prize a year later.

The story of Bruno, a patient, golden-colored anthropomorphic bear, who simply loves being a beekeeper, is based on the writer’s real memories of her grandpa, on whom the main character Bruno the bear is based. He takes the readers on the fascinating journey of an entire year in the life of a beekeeper from feeding the bees through harvesting the honeycombs with Grandma to filling the pantry with jars of honey tinctures later on. Of course the book wouldn't be complete without the traditional gingerbread recipe!

The book was also published in French and the German translation is coming later this year.
