Czech Center New York and the Bohuslav Martinů Institute, headed by Director Aleš Březina, are currently preparing programs to commemorate the 80th anniversary of Bohuslav Martinů’s journey from Europe to the USA.
Photographer Kateřina Dvořáková Manková, winner of the UNSCR Photographic Society’s contest, is working with Czech Center New York Director Miroslav Konvalina on a Martinů Sights in New York series.
Meanwhile, musicians in Prague have been busy recording Martinů’s compositions to the present in the USA. In the home of Bohuslav Martinů Foundation in Prague 8, Marie Hasoňová on the violin and Petr Holman on the viola performed Duo No.2 for Violin and Viola, they were then joined by Gabriela Barillová on the violin for Serenade No.2 for Two Violins and Viola.
These events are a part of Czech Center New York’s program The Year of Martinů.
