Women on the Frontline

(dir. Ivar Heinmaa, 2021, Estonia, Finland)

Oksana, Anna, Tatjana and Marina are at war, each with their own motive and destiny. They are women whose lives, among many others, were changed by the civil unrest that began in 2014 on Maidan Square in Kyiv. The film follows their battles through several years and seasons and covers both everyday activities as well as perilous situations under gunfire.

What motivates women to go to war? What do they believe in and hope for? What is the price they pay for withstanding life on the frontline?

This is a documentary about the war that broke out in Eastern Ukraine.
