Otto Hejnic Organism ft. Peter Bernstein & Brian Charette

Excellent Czech drummer Otto Hejnic will perform with his New York friends. Don't miss the great pairing of two jazz greats and New Yorkers, guitarist Peter Bernstein and Hammond organist Brian Charette with drummer Otto Hejnic. This Organism will play not only a repertoire with upcoming new records but also classic jazz standards.

Otto Hejnic

Otto Hejnic is the best-known drummer in the Czech Republic. As a leader, he has released seven albums, and as a sideman, he has more than 40 albums. He also composes music for film, theatre, and comercials, and is an amateur photographer. He focuses on modern jazz, latin, bigband. He has much experience in pop, groove, rock, world, and African music. Otto is also a studio records session player.

Otto graduated from The Prague Dvorak Conservatory in the Czech Republic. He was a performer for Yamaha drums. At the age of 22, he won a scholarship to study at Berkley Music of Boston. While he didn’t attend, later in the years 2000 – 2005 was often in the USA (New York, Miami, and New Orleans), where he played with many great players and where did the album “Live From New Orleans”. Since 2005, Otto has been back in Europe, with his home base in Prague.

Peter Bernstein

Jazz guitarist Peter Bernstein has been a part of the jazz scene in New York and abroad since 1989. During that time he has participated in numerous recordings and performances with musicians from all generations. As a leader, Peter has released nine albums and a DVD. As a sideman, Peter has appeared in groups led by Sonny Rollins, Bobby Hutcherson, George Coleman, Lou Donaldson, Dr. Lonnie Smith, Fathead Newman, Joshua Redman, Brad Mehldau, Diana Krall, Lee Konitz, Jimmy Cobb and many more. Current projects include his album, Monk, with Doug Weiss and Bill Stewart, a recently released solo record, Solo Guitar – Live at Smalls, and the highly acclaimed organ trio with organist Larry Goldings and drummer Bill Stewart.

Brian Charette

New York City organist/pianist, Brian Charette, has established himself as a leading voice in modern jazz. Charette is a Hammond U.S.A, Hammond Europe, I.K Multimedia, and Casio-endorsed, Cellar Live recording artist. Brian is currently #2 on the 2023 Downbeat Critic’s Poll for Organ and also won the 2023 “Rising Star: Keyboard”. Brian was also the winner of the 2014 Downbeat Critics’ Poll “Rising Star: Organ” award and 2015 Hot House Magazine's “Fan's Decision Jazz Award for Best Organist”. Charette’s new Cellar Live release, Jackpot, was recorded at Rudy Van Gelder’s hallowed studio featuring Bill Stewart on drums. The album received 4 stars from Downbeat and was on the Jazzweek radio chart for months, peaking at #9 for 6 weeks. Charette is also a prolific composer of large ensemble music, penning and performing compositions with The Jazz Dock Orchestra in Prague and The Modern Art Orchestra in Budapest.
