Another concert of the Year of Czech Music 2024 will feature Czech renowned harpist Kateřina Englichová and oboe player Vilém Veverka. During their concert in Bohemian National Hall, they will perform works of famous composers like Maurice Ravel or Leonard Bernstein, as well as those that are known only by experts (Josef Vejvoda, Petr Wajsar and others).

This unique Duo Englichová/Veverka will present famous classical pieces such as Ravel’s Tombeau de Couperin, adapted for oboe and harp by Czech composer Otomar Kvěch or Smetana’s Moldau Fantasy for solo harp.
They will introduce four American premieres by Czech composers: Sylvie Bodorová, Josef Vejvoda, the first techno “Kraftveverk” for oboe and harp by Petr Wajsar and Jason and Medea, a myth from the Greek mythology written by Martin Hybler, who will be joining them on stage to launch the new CD of Kateřina Englichová “As time goes by”.

Kateřina Englichová is one of the most sought after European harpists of her generation and a fresh recipient of the Prague Music Award, Kateřina Englichová performs all over Europe, North America, Japan, Hong Kong and New Zealand. She has collaborated with artists such as Mstislav Rostropovitch, Josef Suk, Gerard Causee, Cynthia Phelps, Carol Wincenc, Michel Lethiec, Robert Stallman, Michael Kofler, and with many ensembles, including the Skampa Quartet, the Prazak Quartet, the Haas Quartet and the Wihan Quartet.
Kateřina Englichová cooperates on regular basis with the Czech Oboist Vilem Veverka and the Bohemia-Luxembourg Trio with flutist Carlo Jans and violist Jitka Hosprova. She has been in the jury of the Israel Harp Competition and she is the professor of Harp at the Prague Conservatoire.

Vilém Veverka is one of the Czech Republic’s most respected interpreters. A graduate of the Prague Conservatory (F. X. Thuri) and Prague’s Academy of Performing Arts (Liběna Séquardtová), he also attended a number of courses by French oboist Jean-Louis Capezzali. His involvement in the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra was a key spur to his artistic development, as were his subsequent studies under leading German oboist Dominik Wollenweber at Berlin’s Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eisler. A two-year stint with the Berlin Philharmonic (on a Karajan Foundation grant) greatly benefitted his professional development, while the preeminent foreign oboists Albrecht Mayer, Hansjörg Schellenberger, Maurice Bourgue and Heinz Holliger provided him with more than mere inspiration.
