Artists from Europe will collaborate on a mural in New York. The project is organized by EUNIC (European National Institutes for Culture) together with other cultural institutions, the Czech Center New York being one of them. Ten artists from different countries will be involved in the creation of the work called Garden of Collective Futures in May. Věrka Vybíralová will represent the Czech Republic.
In the spirit of artistic exchange between Europe and the USA, EUNIC New York Mural Project seeks to highlight the importance of international cultural cooperation. The European representatives will design the work under the guidance of New York-based painter, muralist, street artist and illustrator of Ukrainian origin Misha Tyutyunik.
We are thrilled to partner with The Standard, East Village on this project. The mural will be located on the wall outside of the hotel, along East 5th Street (between 2nd and 3rd Avenue), New York, NY 10003, and will be unveiled on June 20th, 2024. Garden of Collective Futures Mural is a project led by the ACFNY for EUNIC New York, in cooperation with the following partnering institutions: Hungarian Cultural Centre (Liszt Institute New York - Liszt Intézet New York), Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs / Välisministeerium, Lithuanian Cultural Institute (Lithuanian Consulate-General in New York), Romanian Cultural Institute in New York / ICR New York, Delegation of Flanders to the USA/ Flanders in the USA, Goethe-Institut New York, Polish Cultural Institute New York, Ukrainian Institute of America, and Czech Center New York.
The Standard, East Village is located off Cooper Square in one of New York’s most vibrant, artistic neighborhoods. The hotel is cozy, charming, and eccentric in equal measure — very much in the spirit of its surroundings. In a time where the world feels increasingly divided, this artistic exchange between Europe and the US emphasizes the importance of international cultural cooperation.

Verka Vybiralova focuses on dynamic drawing. Her work has a clearly recognizable style. She draws her paintings with precision in quick strokes. She applies this, not only in her public performances, but also for the creation of comics, comic-style portraits, illustrations, storyboards and large-scale interior paintings. Vybiralova has a strong connection to history, in addition to art, she also studied restoration. She has restored and gilded, for example, the roof of the Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague and her work has also appeared in prestigious exhibitions at Prague Castle.
