Join us for our traditional holiday celebration presenting the "Czech Christmas Tree for New York" in the Czech Center New York. This year, it will be for the third time and with the handmade glass-bead ornament collection from family manufacture RAUTIS in Poniklá.
At the Rautis family company you can learn about the unique craft of glass bead blowing and hand-manufacture of Christmas bead ornaments, whose roots in Poniklá date back to 1902. They are the last company in the world still preserving this traditional technology and keeping the manufacturing process current today.
Handmade production of Christmas tree decorations from blown glass beads was inscribed in 2020 on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity (UNESCO).
The Czech Christmas tree will be lit on November 30, 2022, during the Concert of Markéta Cukrová and guests. It is the same date as when the The Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree will be lit.
You can come to see the tree being lit also during the season celebrations of the Consulate General of the Czech Republic in New York on December 10, 2022, and later at the Christmas party on December 17, 2022, both in the Bohemian National Hall.
